First of all, props to my favorite metalcore band, Bullet For My Valentine, for giving me the words to put on this post's title. It's the title of a really cool song from either of their EP albums, Bullet for My Valentine (track #5, 2004) and Hand of Blood (track #6, 2005). You could listen to this song via the (click HERE to go there) Mixpod playlist I just created.
Anyways, again, I'd like to share what happened to me today, and no, it's not gonna take me that long.
When I woke up this morning, at about 6:45, it was raining, real hard. I went on with my usual preparations for school, hoping that the rain will stop soon and the classes won't get suspended today. I'm about to leave, but it was still raining hard. Oh well, according to 2 morning TV shows, only the pre-school, elementary, and high school students will not have classes today, including mentioned universities, which didn't include mine. Cool, classes are still going on in our university, but people there will most likely think that it sucks that they had to go to school on a storming day such as this one. When I got to under the nearest LRT 1 station, which is my typical means of transportation, going to school, it was all flooded there, and people are standing by all over the place, I even saw a classmate back in high school there, and a fellow PLM student, had no idea who that person is though, but I just saw the person wearing our university's uniform. Turns out, they know each other. But about a few minutes later, the PLM sudent left. The dude said that the person is going home already, since she thinks that the classes are going to get suspended in our school anyways. After a few minutes, he even left as well, since he thought the same thing about his university. And oh, he told me that the LRT is not operational, which led me to just think about my next move. I just stood there, thinking, should I take a jeep, or just go home? But then it was announced that the LRT is back online, so I rushed up there and took a ride. Almost 9am already then, my class is supposed to start 8:30am, damn it! My first late arrival. When I got off the train, it was still raining. the outside of the station is also flooded. Damn! So, again, I wasted more time thinking about my next move, which wasted more time. But then I saw this girl, waiting for a ride just to get across the street (yes, it was THAT flooded). She's also a PLM student. So it kind of got me thinking, why not just ask the girl if she thinks that the classes will get suspended or not, if she thinks so, then I'll just head on home, since the LRT station (where I came from) is just nearby, but if not, I'll head to school to find out for myself anyways. I was going to approach her, but she seemed to be approaching me. But no, I was just too close to the corner, where all the pedicabs (basically bicycles attached to a sidecar), even the motorized ones, are heading to pick up passengers. She got into a motorized one that was only supposed to go across the street, but before any other passengers could board, I asked the driver if he could take the vehicle all the way near our school, he sort of declined because it is a little too far away, but the girl spoke up and she also wanted to go there. That makes the two of us, so the driver agreed, for a price. 40 bucks each, I agreed, so we went on. Me, seated behind the driver, I kind of got into a little chat with the driver. We were talking about the weather, and crap like that. After we got to the destination, the driver only asked us to pay 30 apiece, since we were just students, according to him. I was rummaging through my little (yeah, like a ruler's length, and a third of a ruler's width kind of little) thing where I keep my money (which used to be my pencil case, from way back in the fifth grade) when the girl took out a hundred to pay for her share of the fare, but the driver said that he doesn't have any money yet, let alone change for a hundred. I have about 70 bucks (plus some coins) in my possession that moment, so I handed the man my 70 bucks (a 50 and a 20), and proposed that I will cover all the expenses, but the man gave me back the 20 and just asked us if we had 10 bucks. The girl took out some coins to cover that part, I bid the good man a good day and that about does it for the ride. When I were walking to school, it's still raining by the way (I'm wearing a rain coat over my torso, and my backpack, plus wielding a small pink umbrella all the time) the girl followed me and insisted that she pays me back what she thinks she owes me, but I insisted (back) that she doesn't have to worry because it's on me. I arrived at the campus about 9:30am, but I saw this whiteboard outside the main entrance saying that all classes for the day are suspended in all levels. Wow. I literally broke out into a sarcastic laughter. I was, like, "Great." I was about to head on home, but the girl really insisted that she pays me the money I spent for her, and she have backup this time, her (female) friend took out 30 bucks and offered it to me, but I just said no and "It's okay, really. You don't have to." I then told the girl to return the favor not to me, but to somebody else (since I really didn't need the money, so I just thought she might see somebody else who really needs the help). I also told her that since classes are suspended, I'm heading home already. But about a second after I turned my back, the girl said "Kuya, wait! Ano nga pla name mo?" ("Hey Wait! What's your name anyways?"), I turned and said, "Dennis. Call me Dennis." then I left. Okay, so I was kidding about that last part. She didn't really get a chance to ask for my name, since I was walking a little too fast, and maybe she didn't really care. I guess she'll never know, but then again, that's already cool the way it is. Just helping out a stranger, but not just a stranger, a schoolmate after all. So after all that, I'm finally heading home.
Damn, I think this post is about the same length as the last one. Too long, huh? Oh well. Thanks for reading anyways. :)
I really wanted to go to school as scheduled today, but I guess all that happened in the past few hours were just...
AWESOME.
